Associate
Anisa was born and raised in Yellowknife, NT, on the traditional land of Yellowknives Dene First Nation and now lives and works in the unceded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən people.
Anisa holds a B.S. in Psychology and a JD, both from the University of Victoria. During her time in law school, Anisa gained practical experience through the Environmental Law Clinic by working with clients on important global matters. Anisa was called to the bar in BC in 2023.
Anisa has been immersed in the culture of the Dene First Nation, Inuit and Métis people from the moment she was born. Anisa’s name means tree of life in Farsi, her parent language, and is complimented by her Tłı̨chǫ Yatıì middle name, Sadeh, meaning ray of sun, given to her by an Elder in her community.
Anisa’s background has instilled in her a deep passion for being a part of systemic change and she is excited to be a part of work that furthers this aspiration at Arbutus Law Group. Anisa’s commitment to her community is evidenced by her volunteer work with Rural eMentoring BC, the University of Victoria Mental Health Strategy, The Didi Society, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and the Canadian Red Cross.
Outside of the practice of law, Anisa enjoys painting, interior design and spending time with her friends and family.
Anisa is also fluent in English, French and Farsi.
