On Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 12:30 PM PT Kathryn Deo, will be presenting at ‘We Can Work it Out 2: Power and Culture in Dispute Resolution’, part of the Trial Lawyer’s of British Columbia Dispute Resolution Series.
About the Presentation:
Power and culture are essential parts of conflict and conflict resolution. Inequalities of power may arise from individual or structural imbalances, personality, and wealth. This can interfere with understanding each others’ perspectives and being able to freely express viewpoints. Cultures are like underground rivers that run through our lives and relationships, giving us messages that shape our perceptions, attributions, judgments, and ideas of self and other. It’s important for lawyers and their clients to prepare for aspects of power and culture in dispute resolution, and speakers Dan George, Kathryn Deo, and Dr. Andrew Pilliar bring perspectives from working with individuals, first nations, government, and academia. Come prepared for the live Q&A session.
