Kate Mix

Articling Student

Kate is a first-generation Canadian settler of British ancestry born and raised in Calgary on Treaty 7 territory. She has a joint degree in Canadian Common Law and Indigenous Legal Orders (JD/JID) from the University of Victoria. She continues to work and live on the territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən People.

Kate has experience working on projects supporting Indigenous resurgent action and community legal goals. She worked as an administrative assistant and legal researcher for an Indigenous community in Northern BC and worked on community legal projects in law school with Indigenous communities in the Northwest Territories and Southern Ontario. She is passionate about using the law as a tool to support community-driven priorities and self-determination for Indigenous communities.

Kate also enjoys running, hiking and walking the beaches around Vancouver Island.
