ALG Welcomes Senior Associate, Meredith James

We are delighted to announce that Meredith James will be joining the Arbutus Law Group as a Senior Associate on November 17, 2025. Meredith lives and works in the unceded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən People. Her practice focuses on supporting Indigenous governance, environmental law, and community-based economic development. She advises Indigenous groups, non-profit organizations, and First Nation-owned businesses on matters related to land and environmental management, governance structures, and regulatory compliance. Meredith has particular experience supporting Indigenous governments in addressing contaminated sites, negotiating agreements with the Crown, and developing governance processes and procedures for First Nation-affiliated entities.

Meredith is a practising member of the Law Society of British Columbia. She serves on the Board of Directors of the British Columbia Law Institute and is a co-founder and board member of Lawyers for Climate Justice. Meredith is completing an LL.M. at the University of Victoria, where her research examines federal contaminated sites policy on reserve lands.
