On June 21, we recognize and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day.
Held on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, June 21st has long held significance for many Indigenous Peoples. It is a time of renewal, gathering, ceremony and celebration.
National Indigenous Peoples Day is also an opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect. Understanding the histories of Indigenous Peoples, including the impacts of colonialism and the ongoing work of reconciliation, remains an important responsibility for all people living in present-day Canada.
We encourage everyone to participate in local events and initiatives, support Indigenous businesses, and seek out opportunities to learn from Indigenous voices and perspectives.
