Meredith lives and works in the unceded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən People. Her practice focuses on supporting Indigenous governance, environmental law, and community-based economic development. She advises Indigenous groups, non-profit organizations, and First Nation-owned businesses on matters related to land and environmental management, governance structures, and regulatory compliance. Meredith has particular experience supporting Indigenous governments in addressing contaminated sites, negotiating agreements with the Crown, and developing governance processes and procedures for First Nation-affiliated entities.
With a background in environmental biology and law, Meredith takes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to her work, engaging with technical experts and community teams to integrate environmental, legal, and governance considerations into decision-making.
Before joining Arbutus Law Group, Meredith practised with an international law firm, served as in-house counsel with the City of Toronto, and worked with a leading Aboriginal law firm. She brings over a decade of experience in environmental and Aboriginal law to her work with clients.
Meredith is a practising member of the Law Society of British Columbia. She serves on the Board of Directors of the British Columbia Law Institute and is a co-founder and board member of Lawyers for Climate Justice. Meredith is completing an LL.M. at the University of Victoria, where her research examines federal contaminated sites policy on reserve lands.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan within Treaty 6 territory, Meredith appreciates every day near the ocean and the opportunity for year-round gardening, cycling, and hiking across Vancouver Island – though she occasionally misses a true prairie thunderstorm.
