Paula Rasmussen

Articling Student

Paula grew up on Treaty 7 territory and has lived on lək̓ʷəŋən territory since 2016. She holds an Honours degree in Political Science and a joint degree in Common Law and Indigenous Legal Orders, both from the University of Victoria. During law school, Paula gained hands-on legal experience at The Law Centre and spent two field school semesters working closely with First Nations in the Northwest Territories and Ontario.

Paula has a background in supporting Indigenous children and youth, having served as a youth leader for Sc’ianew First Nation and as a support worker at Cedar House group home. She also contributed to the work of the South Island Indigenous Authority (SIIA), supporting Nations on the south of Vancouver Island in drafting their own child welfare legislation grounded in their legal traditions.

In her free time, Paula enjoys hiking, outdoor adventures, and tending to her vegetable and flower garden.
