Employment Law

The responsibilities of employers and employees of Indigenous governments, communities and entities are comprehensive and complex. The individuals working in these environments deliver programs and services, engage in inter-governmental relationships and advance economic development initiatives.

The employment environment requires policies that incorporate applicable employment standards, and result in fair working conditions and a desirable place to work. We help our clients to develop policies and procedures that acknowledge and respect Indigenous culture while also complying with applicable legislation.

Our work includes:

  • developing and implementing employment, conflict of interest and travel policies
  • drafting, reviewing and advising on employment and contractor contracts
  • advising and supporting employers through discipline and termination of employees
